The Musée Carnavalet tells the history of Paris from prehistory to the present across two linked Marais mansions, reopened in 2021 after renovation. Its free collection includes Gallo-Roman finds, Revolutionary relics, preserved shop signs, and reconstructed interiors. Marcel Proust's cork-lined bedroom is among the rooms.
