The Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, in a Jean Nouvel building wrapped in a living wall beside the Seine, is devoted to the arts and civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Its permanent route winds through some 3,500 objects on a darkened central ramp. It opened in 2006 to gather France's ethnographic collections.
