Paris
The Louvre is the world's most visited museum, housed in a former royal palace on the Right Bank of the Seine and entered through I. M. Pei's glass pyramid. Its collection of some 35,000 works on display spans antiquity to the mid-nineteenth century across eight curatorial departments. The Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory of Samothrace are among the works that draw millions each year.
