Paris
The Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection presents the contemporary art collection of François Pinault inside a former 18th-century grain exchange in central Paris, radically transformed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Ando inserted a monumental raw concrete cylinder into the circular building, creating a constant dialogue between the austere cylinder, the historic glass dome above, and a preserved 19th-century painted frieze — the building itself is as much an experience as the art it houses. Opened in May 2021, the museum has no permanent collection on display: every exhibition is a temporary, curated project drawn from Pinault's approximately 10,000-work collection, spanning solo presentations, thematic group shows, and site-specific commissions in the Rotunda and across the building's galleries, passage, and basement spaces. The result is a programme of sustained curatorial ambition, with each season typically anchored by one or two major exhibitions alongside smaller commissions and carte blanches.
